    INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS AND PARTNERSHIPS

The Christian Democratic ideology places a large emphasis on international solidarity. Therefore, KrFU has a long tradition of international co-operation that is separated into two categories: co-operative projects and party coalitions.

    CO-OPERATIVE PROJECTS:

    BELARUS

Belarus is known as the last dictatorship in Europe. KrFU has had ongoing co-operation with partners here for more than ten years. In 2013, a project was created with the aim of training youth parties on leadership and democracy.

    KENYA

In 2013, KrFU partnered with young politicians in the major political parties through the Inter-Party Youth Forum of Kenya (IPYF) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI). The aim of this partnership to train young politicians on the role of youth in politics, leadership and democracy.

Both co-operative projects in Belarus and Kenya are supported by the ‘democracy support through political parties’ from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).

    PARTY COALITIONS:

KrFU is a member of Christian Democratic Nordic Youth (KDUN), a partnership between the Christian Democratic parties in Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Faroe Islands. Since 1970, KDUN has existed as an arena to exchange ideas between the Nordic countries. KDUN is a coalition that meets in the Nordic Youth Council (NYC), which is the organization for all political youth groups in the Nordic countries. The NYC deals with important questions that are relevant to Nordic Youth and lobbies for stronger Nordic co-operation.

KrFU is a member of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP). YEPP is the youth organization for the Europeans People’s Party, which is the largest party in the European parliament. This organization gathers around 50 centre-right youth parties from all over Europe and has grown to be Europe’s largest youth organization with over one million members. YEPP works towards including youth in important decision making processes at the European level, and towards greater democratization throughout Europe.

KrFU contributes to the work the YEPP is already engaged in, while at the same time lobbying for Christian Democratic values like love for your fellow neighbour, the intrinsic value of man, and good stewardship of nature. This gives KrFU the opportunity to influence youth organizations throughout all of Europe, thereby contributing to an increased focus on fighting poverty and good environmental policy.
